Meet the mentor

A lab built on curiosity and clinical usefulness.

Dr. Chandra is Coordinator and Associate Professor at the School of Biochemical Engineering, IIT (BHU) Varanasi. He earned his Ph.D. at Pusan National University, South Korea, and completed post-doctoral training at the Technion — Israel Institute of Technology. With over 200 research articles and 19 edited books, his interdisciplinary work spans nanobiotechnology, nanobiosensors, lab-on-chip systems and nanomedicine. His cancer-detection systems have been highlighted by the Royal Society of Chemistry's Chemistry World and Global Medical Discovery, Canada.

National award

Dr. Pranjal Chandra and Mr. Supratim Mahapatra received the Eat Right Research Award 2022 on World Food Safety Day for a nano-engineered portable sensing device — presented by the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.

Bio-Physio Sensors

Medical devices for disease diagnostics and therapeutics — affordable to the mass population, easy to use and portable, so they work in remote or resource-limited settings.

Point-of-Care Techniques

Lateral-flow immunoassays and portable electronics for signal processing and analysis — including sensor-based colorimeters and fluorimeters developed in-house.

Nanobiotechnology

Synthesis of nanoparticles including semiconductor nanocrystals (quantum dots). Biofunctionalisation improves their utility in building next-generation biosensors.
